Short-journey driving around the Rubery and Rednal area — school runs, quick trips to The Pavilions shopping park, commuting to the park-and-ride — creates specific problems for diesel vehicles. Engines that rarely get up to full operating temperature accumulate oil contamination faster, and DPFs fail to regenerate properly without a sustained motorway or A-road run.
